Head Softball Coach: Ed Wilkerson

Ed Wilkerson begins his second season as head softball coach of the Allen Community College softball team.

Wilkerson comes to Allen after five seasons at Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS. FHSU won a school record 34 games in 2002. The 2003 squad bested that mark finishing 35-20. The Tigers won their only RMAC Tournament title and qualified for their only NCAA II Regional Tournament appearance in 2003. With a 142-130 record in five seasons, with the Tigers, Wilkerson also served as an instructor and assistant athletic trainer.

Prior to FHSU, Wilkerson had five successful seasons at Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas. PCC totaled 173 wins against 121 losses in five seasons. In 1997, the Beavers posted a 41-13 record and a second place finish in the Jayhawk West Conference. The 1999 squad went 40-23 in route to the Region IV Tournament Championship and a seventh-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association Championships. Wilkerson served as and instructor and as head athletic trainer at PCC from 1990-1998, in addition to coaching the Beavers from 1995-2000.

Prior to PCC, Wilkerson served as a medical technician and staff sergeant in the United States Air Force stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

Ed, his wife Sandy, and daughter Emilia reside in Iola.

Assistant Softball Coach: Jamie Amerine

Jamie Amerine is entering her first year as an Assistant Softball Coach at Allen Community College.  She is a native of Lecompton, Kansas where she attended Perry-Lecompton High School.  Jamie attended Cowley Community College where she was the starting left fielder for two years.  During her freshman season she was Defensive Player of the Year, All-Conference and helped lead the team to a Jayhawk East Conference Title. As a sophomore Jamie continued to play an important roll for the Tigers, again attaining the title of Defensive Player of the Year as well as All-Conference and All-Region. The Lady Tigers were Conference and Region Champions and also took 4th at the NJCAA National Tournament.

Amerine continued her college career at The University of South Carolina Upstate where she was a starter for the Spartans.  In 2006 the Spartans were 41-18. In her senior season the team compiled a record of 47-15, setting a school record for the most wins in a single season. Jamie graduated from USC Upstate in 2008 with a degree in Corporate Fitness.

Jamie will also hold a position at Allen as a Resident Hall Director.
