Philosophy:   Providing educational access is central
to the mission of Allen Community College (ACCC).The Outreach Program Development philosophy
is to provide access to quality education, at an affordable
price, by providing educational opportunities in the
community for the students and businesses.
This philosophy requires ACCC to be proactively engaged in the community and places ACCC in a position to quickly respond to the educational and training needs of the community and adapt to student and employer needs.

Changing:  The Outreach Program is continually developing programs to fit the changing needs of students and workforce demands. Examples include customized training in LEAN Management, Blueprint Reading for Welders, Cutting Torch Techniques, Computer Repair, Windows XP, LAN Networking, Windows Server 2003, Addiction and Prevention Studies, Child Care & Guidance, where Allen Community College and industry organizations work together to provide employees with enhanced skills or students with marketable skills.

Partnerships:    Through Articulation Agreements with area high schools, ACCC is implementing TechPrep programs. The TechPrep program provides high school students a system of developing academic and vocational skills over a six-year period. This program begins in the ninth grade and goes through an associate degree program of Allen County Community College.

Locations:    ACCC's educational service area includes all of Allen, Woodson, Coffey, and Osage counties and parts of Anderson and Wabaunsee counties. Outreach sites include: Burlingame, Burlington, Colony, Eskridge, Gridley, Humboldt, Lebo, LeRoy, Lyndon, Melvern, Moran, Osage City, Santa Fe Trail, Waverly, Yates Center, Shawnee Heights, Seaman, Silver Lake, and New Strawn Health Care Academy

Students:   The Outreach Program provides educational opportunities to working adults at over 20 locations throughout the ACCC service area. Course scheduling is designed with the working adult in mind, by providing day, evening and weekend classes to fit their busy schedules. Several of the sites are located at high schools, but classes are also offered at business locations.

Concurrent Students:   Through the Outreach Concurrent Education program, ACCC make post-secondary educational opportunities available to high school juniors and seniors who are motivated and prepared for college level courses. This program enables high school students to earn both high school and college credit. This program evolves around Kansas Legislative guidelines and require an agreement between a High School and ACCC. Specific approval by the high school principal for the high school student to participate is also required.

Traditional Students:   The Outreach Program offers an alternative for traditional full time college students. By offering classes at various locations and times, students are afforded flexibility in course scheduling. Many of the Outreach students attend other colleges while supplementing their schedule with ACCC classes that are more convenient or with classes that are smaller and afford more personal attention.

Faculty & Adjunct Faculty:   Both full time and adjunct faculty provide quality instructional services at the Burlingame Campus and Outreach sites. Most of the adjunct faculty are working full time in their discipline. With the diversity of instructor backgrounds, students are afforded a wealth of knowledge from the educational, or occupational business or industry, which prepares the student to successfully enter the job marketplace or advance to a four-year educational institution.
