Scholarships

Institutional Scholarships and Grants-in-Aid

Scholarship Requirements

Unless otherwise indicated, the following requirements apply to all institutional and endowment association scholarships and grants-in-aid:

  • Must be enrolled in at least 12 hours that begin the first week of the semester
  • Must earn at least 12 credit hours each semester
  • Require a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above
  • Students who have attempted 96 credit hours or have a degree are not eligible
  • Scholarships apply only for the fall and spring semesters – scholarships are not available for the summer term
  • Only one scholarship will be awarded to an individual student
  • Scholarships are reviewed and renewed each semester
  • Priority selection date is April 1st for the fall semester and December 1st for the spring semester
  • Academic scholarship application deadline is August 1st for the fall and January 1st spring semester 
  • Applicants who have earned less than 12 credit hours of college coursework must submit a final high school transcript or GED score. Those who have earned at least 12 credit hours of college coursework must submit transcripts for previous college courses. Transcripts must be received prior to the first day of the semester.

Scholarships Available

Presidential Academic Scholarship

  • 3.75 and above cumulative GPA or equivalent GED score is required
  • Must be a Kansas resident
  • Scholarship includes tuition, student fees, and book rent up to 18 hours per semester
  • Fees do not include online or technology fees
  • Must earn 12 hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or above to renew
  • If the cumulative GPA falls below 3.75, student will be awarded Deans or Merit if criteria is met
  • Only need to reapply if academic scholarship has been lost
  • Must complete the Scholarship Application and submit transcripts or GED scores to apply

Deans Academic Scholarship

  • 3.50-3.74 cumulative GPA or equivalent GED score is required
  • Must be a Kansas resident
  • Scholarship includes tuition and book rent up to 18 hours per semester
  • Must earn 12 hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.5-3.74 to renew
  • If the cumulative GPA falls below 3.50 student will be awarded Merit if criteria is met
  • Only need to reapply if academic scholarship has been lost
  • Must complete the Scholarship Application and submit transcripts or GED scores to apply

Merit Academic Scholarship

  • 3.00-3.49 cumulative GPA or equivalent GED score is required
  • Must be a Kansas resident
  • Scholarship includes $500 per semester
  • Must earn 12 hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.0-3.49 to renew
  • Only need to reapply if academic scholarship has been lost
  • Must complete the Scholarship Application and submit transcripts or GED scores to apply

Endowment Academic Scholarships

  • Donors who provide support for academic scholarships may have a named scholarship
  • Students who complete the Scholarship Application and submit transcripts or GED scores will be notified if they meet the criteria and are selected for a named scholarship
  • The Seabury Scholarship requires an additional application
  • Endowment Scholarships are reviewed and awarded by the Endowment Association Scholarship Committee matching donor preferences with applicant qualifications.
  • All students receiving named scholarships must
  • Attend the Allen Endowment Association Scholarship luncheon in the fall
  • Send a thank you to the donor of their scholarship
  • Provide 3 hours of community service

Activity Scholarships

  • Signed letter of intent and 2.0 cumulative GPA is required
  • Recipients are selected by the sponsor through letters of intent.
  • The scholarship amount is specified in the letter of intent.
  • Must earn 12 hours (or average 12 hours for each semester attempted) with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to retain the scholarship
  • Must live on campus or receive permission to live off campus from the Director of Student Life
  • Must sign a letter of intent each academic year

Activity scholarships are offered for the following areas: Art, Newspaper, Academic Challenge, Student Ambassadors, Livestock Judging, Theatre, and Music    

Athletic Scholarships

  • Signed letter of intent and 2.0 cumulative GPA is required
  • Recipients are selected by the coach through letters of intent.
  • The scholarship amount is specified in the letter of intent.
  • Must earn 12 hours (or average 12 hours for each semester attempted) with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to retain scholarship
  • Must live on campus or receive permission to live off campus from the Director of Student Life
  • Must sign a letter of intent each academic year

Allen County Grant

  • Grant is given to residents of Allen County
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required for eligibility and renewal
  • Application is not required to receive grant
  • Must submit transcripts or GED scores
  • Scholarship is based on enrolled credit hours:
  • 3-5 credit hours $100 per semester
  • 6-8 credit hours $200 per semester
  • 9-11 credit hours $300 per semester
  • 12 or more credit hours $400 per semester

Early Start Scholarship

  • Scholarship for summer term only
  • Must not have attended college since receiving a diploma or GED
  • Must need developmental education in at least two areas
  • Must be first-time student needing developmental education in at least two areas
  • No GPA required
  • Must be enrolled for fall semester at Allen
  • Scholarship includes tuition and book rent
  • Recipients may renew for a second summer if they maintain a 2.0 GPA
  • Must complete the Early Start Application to apply

Employee Grant

  • Faculty, staff, and adjuncts with a 2.0 cumulative GPA are eligible
  • Adjuncts must be teaching to be eligible or have taught during the spring for a summer term
  • Must have supervisor's approval
  • Scholarship includes tuition, fees, and book rent up to 18 hours per semester
  • Fees include student fees, online technology, and technology fees
  • Must complete the Grants for Employees and Their Families Application and submit transcripts or GED scores to apply.
  • Enrollment is on a space-available basis

Employee Spouse or Dependent Grant

  • Spouses or dependent children as defined by the IRS of full-time employees are eligible
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required to receive and retain this grant
  • Must have supervisor's approval
  • Scholarship includes tuition and book rental.
  • Must complete the Grants for Employees and Their Families Application and submit transcripts or GED scores to apply.
  • Enrollment is on a space available basis
