Associate of Science with an Emphasis in Early Childhood Education

Allen's associate degrees in early childhood education prepare students for successful careers working with young children by providing foundational learning in education and development. An early childhood education degree opens the doors to many exciting careers in child care. Becoming a preschool teacher, a family child care provider, a Head Start teacher, or a center director are all possibilities.

Many students get started by earning an online Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate. Online early childhood education courses in the CDA certificate include:

· ECE 101 Early Childhood Growth and Development (A Kansas Regents System Number course for seamless transfer: PSY 2030 Childhood Growth and     Development.)

· ECE 102 Principles of Early Childhood Education

· ECE 103 Child Health, Safety, and Nutrition

· ECE 202 Preschool Education and Care.

The Associate in Science with an Emphasis in Early Childhood Education degree track is a sequence of recommended early childhood and general education courses designed to meet most degree requirements for the first two years of study for early childhood education at Kansas Board of Regents universities. Students pursuing an associate degree in early childhood education in southeastern Kansas often transfer from Allen's program to Kansas State University, Fort Hays State University, Pittsburg State University, or Washburn University to complete their baccalaureate degree.

Students pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education are often actively working in child care centers or for family care providers while they complete their degrees at Allen.
