Nate narrowly misses qualifier

Nate Neuerburg had another great performance in the high jump, placing him 1st. Nate was flawless through 6-2, and 6-4, and on his first attempt at the National Qualifying mark of 6-6.75, Nate cleared the bar with his body however on the way down, knocked the bar off with his back leg. Nate's other two jumps were not as successful. "It is only a matter of time before Nate qualifies, his practices have been great and now it is only a matter of time before he puts everything together." DeGrado said. Long Jump featured a 1-2 finish by Allen County, with Phillip Dale winning the Long Jump on his last attempt which surpassed his teammate Lee Johnson. Phillip won with a jump of 21-11.5, and Lee placed second with a distance of 21-10. Lee ran the 100 in 11.07. The 100 was ran into the wind which was blowing 20 to 25mph. Daniel Colina won the Javelin with a throw of 163-10 while his teammate Colby Segraves placed second with a throw of 147-4. In the 400m intermediate hurdles, Andrew Schroter won with a time of 59.86. "Andrew just needs to improve his fitness level and his hurdle time will come down quickly." DeGrado said. Lastly the 4x400m relay team won with a time of 3:32.70. "Each person on the relay had ran 2 or 3 other races prior to running so I wasn't expecting anything great, but we had some good times considering the conditions." Brandon Agee raced for the first time since his injury back in January. "It was nice to see Brandon back out there running." Brandon split a 51.35 for his leg and he pulled up towards the end after he knew we had won. All Brandon needs now is to get himself back into shape and I see him running in the 49's. Overall the performances were good considering the size of the meet which is what we wanted to run after coming back from spring break. We are at Coffeyville next week and then we'll be at Wichita State, Kansas Relays and finally the Southwestern Relays for the month of April.
