The Allen County Red Devils competed in their first outdoor meet of the season before heading on spring break. Overall we had some good performances leading into the break. Nate Neuerburg jumped a seasons best of 6-04 in the High Jump. Nate went out at the national qualifying mark of 6-6.75. His third attempt was his best when he cleared the bar, however, he bumped it with is back leg. "I see Nate qualifying this weekend at Neosho, he has been jumping well leading up to the meet" DeGrado said. Lee Johnson had some good performances as well. Lee got a bad draw in the 100 with nobody around him to push, Lee ran a 10.98 FAT by himself. I believe if Lee would have been in the fast heat he quite possibly could have won it. Lee is ranked 7th in the Nation for the 100m Dash. Lee placed 4th in the Long Jump with a jump of 21-05. Lee was not finished, he ran the 2nd leg of the 4x100 in which he put the Red Devils in the lead with his leg, and finished up the day on the 4x400 with a split of 51. The 4x100 placed 2nd with a time of 43.19 without Chase Bradley on the relay. "We need to clean up a few handoffs, and once we put it all together, they will qualify with ease." DeGrado said. Right now they are currently ranked 8th in the Nation. Other notable performances was Daniel Colina has thrown the Javelin 171' already this year, threw into a strong head win, and was able 160-1. "I was out there watching, and the wind was gusting up to 30mph at times. All of the throwers were having trouble with the wind." DeGrado said. Michael Valenti ran a respectable 16:39.36 in the 5000m which was nice to see going into spring break. "He still lacks the mileage needed from Cross Country season." Michael came to Allen County at semester. Next week, the Red Devils will be at Chanute for their triangular with Fort Scott and host school Neosho County.
