Library information

The library is centrally located in the main building on campus. The book collection of approximately 32,000 volumes is in open stacks, and can be accessed in the library or via the Internet using our Follett Online Catalog. Current periodicals are displayed in the main reading area, and back hardcopy and microfilm issues are available by inquiring at the desk.

Seating is available for 150, and includes tables, study booths, study carrels, couches, armchairs, and workstation stools and seats. There are ten Internet/Microsoft Office workstations, four of which are also OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) workstations. A copy machine, microform reader, typewriter (yes, we still need these to fill out forms that are not online now and then), and VCR/TV unit are also available for public use.

The library is available for the use of the students, faculty, and staff of ACCC. We also would like to welcome anyone from the community (Southeast Kansas), of any age, who wishes to use our library. Community library users have the same privileges as our students do.

Policies

Books and audio-visual materials can be checked out for 21 days. (Faculty and staff - check with library for checkout periods)
Periodicals and reference materials are due at the end of the next open day.
Fines - 10¢ a day; maximum of $25.00.
Outreach, distance ed, and community persons who may find it inconvenient to come to our library, but need information:

We are committed to serve you, just as we serve our on-campus students and those who can easily come to campus. Our library catalog, and many of our databases, are online. Please contact us and let us know when you find items that you need.

We accept requests by telephone (620-365-5116 x208), fax (620-365-3284), E-mail accclib@allencc.edu, or any other way you can get it to us. We will provide the material by any means you wish. It is easiest and cheapest for us to send books via the U.S. postal service (with a return label). We are open to other options. We can send periodicals via the USPS, fax, or E-mail (you keep the copies). We wish to provide service to you, even if you are far enough away that it is inconvenient to come to us.
