Strategic Planning Goal

The Allen 2017-2022 Strategic Plan contains the goals of raising awareness of diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as developing opportunities and reducing barriers for all who live, learn, work, and come to Allen.

Development of the Committee

In 2018, the College initiated the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee to guide the college to successful completion of the strategic goals. The committee is charged with the research, discussion, education, and promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion of all people at the College, toward creating an even more vibrant culture and welcoming atmosphere.

KACCT Statement of Social Justice

2019-2020

Educate the College community on DEI by sharing developed definitions of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and facilitating discussions of the definitions and supportive practices.
Collaborate with online learning staff to create training in Canvas on DEI definitions, along with an applied learning component, for use in reaching adjunct faculty teaching with the College from a distance.
Collaborate with admissions staff to develop College web pages, specifically about DEI and Allen’s initiatives.
Collaborate with areas of the College, such as targeted academic programs, Student Activities, Marketing, Admissions, etc., to incorporate DEI language into their materials (print and website), as approved by the supervisors of the areas.
Collaborate with Student Activities to identify (and perhaps assist with) events and activities to reach diverse student populations.
Research, in collaboration with Human Resources, employee Cultural Competency training by identifying trainers, planning implementation, and budgeting, for training in AY 2020-2021.
Recommend DEI-focused speaker(s) for January 2021 convocations.

2020-2021

Collaborate with Human Resources to implement employee Cultural Competency training.
Collaborate with the Human Resources Specialist to research and revise employee search practices to attract diverse faculty and staff members to the College.
Collaborate with Human Resources to incorporate DEI language into HR materials (print and website), as approved by the supervisors of the area.
Collaborate with the Curriculum Committee on DEI in curriculum development.
Collaborate with Student Activities to identify (and perhaps assist with) events and activities to reach diverse student populations.
Recommend DEI-focused speaker(s) for January 2022 convocations.
