The Flame is open to Allen Community College students interested in journalism, newspaper reporting, photography, online newspaper production, and writing in general. The purpose of The Flame is to provide a positive and productive atmosphere for developing student writers to integrate, learn, and grow while producing an online newspaper that informs and entertains Allen’s students and employees. In addition, the organization will teach students to generate story ideas, manage assignments, and meet deadlines to benefit an individual's skill and competence as a writer. The Flame's secondary purpose is to provide experience in online newspaper production for journalism majors.
