Phi Theta Kappa is an international honors society for students attending two-year colleges. The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage academic achievement and provide opportunities for individual growth and development.

Allen has 2 Chapters:
Alpha Psi Theta (Burlingame Chapter)
Tau Eta (Iola Chapter)

Students who meet the academic criteria (3.25 institutional GPA and at least 12 credit hours completed at Allen) and who are currently enrolled will be invited to join the organization. Once invited, students will receive a passcode to join and will be required to pay a one-time membership fee of $85. The passcode expires at the end of each semester. Students wishing to transfer membership from another Phi Theta Kappa chapter will be required to meet the membership requirements.

Students are encouraged to become active in Phi Theta Kappa. Programs and volunteer opportunities are offered on a regular basis in the areas of leadership, service, fellowship and scholarship.

Benefits of membership include scholarship opportunities, volunteer activities, a PTK membership pin and certificate, special recognition during the college induction ceremony, and the ability to wear the PTK stole at graduation. In addition, active members may be able to participate in regional or international conferences.

Once a member of Phi Theta Kappa, you are always a member. To be a member in good standing at the international level, you will need to maintain a 3.0 GPA. Allen requires a 3.25 GPA to maintain status as a member in good standing, and most scholarships also require a 3.5 GPA.

For additional information visit the Phi Theta Kappa website, or contact an advisor for information.
