Associate in Science with an Emphasis in Criminal Justice Studies

Allen's associate degree in criminal justice prepares students for the transition to an academy or transfer to a university by providing foundational learning in criminal justice and related social sciences. With a criminal justice degree, students' career goals may focus on becoming a police officer or private security officer, or they may focus on law enforcement and corrections. Online criminal justice courses include:
  • CJS 101 Law Enforcement Operations and Procedures
  • SOC 110 Juvenile Delinquency and Justice
  • CJS 233 Crime Victims
  • CJS 240 Criminal Investigation.

The Associate in Science with an Emphasis in Criminal Justice Studies degree track is a sequence of recommended criminal justice and general education courses designed to meet most degree requirements for the first two years of study for criminal justice programs at Kansas Board of Regents universities. Graduation with the associate degree in criminal justice, or incremental completion with an online law enforcement certificate, helps to assure that transition.

Students pursuing an associate degree in criminal justice in central Kansas often transfer from Allen's program to Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, Kansas State University, or the University of Kansas to complete their baccalaureate degree in criminal justice.
