Associate in Arts with an Emphasis in English

Allen’s associate degree in English prepares students for successful transfer to university study by providing a solid foundation in composition, literature, and creative writing.  With a degree in English, students’ career goals may focus toward journalism, with a position as reporter, copywriter, or publisher; teaching in the fields of literature or composition theory; or writing, with an emphasis in poetry or fiction.

The Associate in Arts with an emphasis in English is a sequence of recommended English and general education courses designed to meet most English degree requirements for the first two years of study for Kansas Board of Regents universities, and for private university English degrees in central Kansas, so that students may transfer into the university at the junior level.  Graduation with the associate degree in English helps to assure that successful transition.
