Faculty Biography Information
Brenda Carmichael began teaching at Allen Community College in August 2006. Brenda currently works full-time as Dean of Enrollment Management at Flint Hills Technical College in Emporia, Kansas. Prior to working at Flint Hills Technical College she worked full-time as Director of Outreach Student Services for Allen Community College in Burlingame, Kansas. She enjoys working with students, parents, counselors and the community. Making a difference one student at a time is something she strives for every day. Brenda’s teaching interests include Business Communication, Introduction to Business, Personal Finance, Professional Development, Leadership, and Teamwork.
Nicci Denny began teaching for Allen in 2011. Nicci earned her Master’s degree in Business Administration and is ABD in Business Administration. She provides expert knowledge and experience in numerous areas of business including accounting, personal finance, and entrepreneurship. Nicci has a diverse work experience having managed a small, privately owned medical practice, served as a medical office coordinator for a large health care organization, and worked as an online learning coordinator for Allen. Nicci is a member of the National Business Education Association (NBEA), National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE), and recently earned her Entrepreneurship Specialist Certificate.
Mandy Gosney has been a business instructor at Allen Community College since August of 2011. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Baker University, as well as her Master of Business Administration. Before coming to Allen Community College, Mandy worked in finance and served as a director for a children's program.
Pamela Hengen started teaching at Allen as an adjunct in 2009. She has taught classes in Computer Concepts and Applications, Microsoft Office, Financial and Managerial Accounting. She has also taught classes previously for ECPI University, Missouri State University (West Plains), Arkansas State University (Mountain Home) and Everest College. She has also been employed in a bank, in retail, in a law firm, in a hospital and in her own business. She graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Masters of Business Administration.
Will Kerns joined Allen in 2013. He is a pharmaceutical sales management and training professional with over 15 years of work experience. With a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Washburn University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Baker University, Will provides a proven real world approach to supervisory management and personal finance. Will is also the President of his local Lions Club.
Dennis Klumpe has been a adjunct instructor for Allen since 1985. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education in 1968 and Master of Science Degree in Business Education in 1971 from Kansas State Teachers College/Emporia State University. He was the Business Teacher, Yearbook and Newspaper Editor at Burlingame High School from 1968-1974. He joined the First State Bank in Burlingame in 1974 as Vice-President of Operations later advancing to Senior Vice-President, Loan Officer, retiring in 2010. He served as President for the Bank Administration Institute in 1984-1985.
Bill Maness has been teaching for Allen since 2000. He has over 30 years of real-world business management and supervisory experience, supported by a degree in Human Resource Management from Friends University in Wichita, KS. He has been involved with employee training and career development, small group activities, and goal setting and achievement. Additionally Bill has had responsibility for daily operations management in customer service, inventory management, logistics management, production control, and other discipline-specific areas.
Walt Regehr joined Allen in August of 2000. He earned an Associate of Arts degree from Allen, a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Wichita State University and a Masters of Management Science from Troy University. Walt was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force upon graduation from WSU. He earned his wings and became an instructor pilot and taught students to fly. After that assignment he became a fighter pilot and flew the F-15 Eagle. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of Lt Colonel after 22 years of service. Walt has been involved in developmental mathematics since joining Allen and for the last eight years has served as the Mathematics Division Chair. Besides math, he teaches Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Business Communication. Walt was an Allen County Commissioner for eight years during his tenure at Allen. He is a member of National Association for Developmental Education, National Economics Teachers Association and has completed Ice House Entrepreneurship Facilitator training from the Kaufman Foundation. Prior to coming to Allen, Walt was on the instructional staff of Neosho Community College.
Vickie Rogers started as a student at Allen Community College (ACC) in the late 1980's. Vickie earned an Associate of Science degree from ACC, Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master's of Management degrees from Baker University. She has been an adjunct faculty member in the School of Business for ACC since 1998. She is also a full-time Professor in the School of Business at Haskell Nations Indian University (H.I.N.U.) in Lawrence, KS, where she also serves on the Curriculum Committee, Green Committee, and Scholarship Committees. Prior to working at HINU, Ms. Rogers retired from the State of Kansas as Director of the Kansas Information Technology Office. Following her heart’s desire, she then returned to ACC as a student and completed pre-nursing classes and earned a nursing degree from Pratt College. She became a Registered Nurse in 2013. She is a member of the American Business Women’s Association, American Nurses Association, Smithsonian Institute, and National Geographic. She holds certification in Information Technology Project Management from the State of Kansas, and has earned associate certification from the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional.
Traci Schauf holds Master’s degrees in Administrative Leadership and Prevention Science from the University of Oklahoma. She has served as a trainer for municipal and state agencies as well as Marriott International. For the past decade she has served as occupational trainer, and classroom and online instructor for community colleges and instruction and curriculum development for technology centers in Oklahoma and Kansas. She teaches and trains in the areas of Business, Health, Leadership, and Professional Development.
Jerry Uphoff has taught business and computer courses at Allen for over 30 years and retired from full time employment in 2008. She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business from Emporia State University.
Natalie Yoza began teaching at Allen in 2015. As a research attorney for a justice on the Kansas Supreme Court, Natalie has significant experience working on civil and criminal appeals. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas (KU) School of Law, and her Bachelor of Science in Journalism with an emphasis in business communications from the KU School of Journalism. Natalie is a member of the Board of Editors of the Kansas Bar Association Journal, and was the co-editor of the Kansas Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section newsletter.
